A Windrose server holds up to 8 players in the same world. The studio recommends around 4 players for a smooth experience, as the archipelago and naval battles are resource-heavy. You can set the player count from the panel and upgrade your plan as your crew grows.
Your friends launch Windrose, click Play then Connect to a Server, and enter your invite code. The code is generated for your world, so share it with your crew along with the password if you set one. The server does not appear in any public browser.
Plan for at least 8 GB for 2 players, and 12 to 16 GB for a comfortable session of 4 or more. For a dedicated server, plan for up to 16 GB: Windrose runs on Unreal Engine and stays demanding in Early Access. CPU clock speed matters as much as RAM for smoothness.
The game is available on Steam, Epic and Stove, and crossplay is still evolving during Early Access. For a trouble-free session, the safest bet is for your crew to play on the same version. Either way, your players join your dedicated server with the invite code.
