Before ordering #
How do I know if MineStrator is the right host for my Minecraft server? #
MineStrator offers reliable Minecraft hosting since 2017, with a free 12-hour trial, a free-forever offer, and a buying guide that helps you pick the right configuration based on player count, mods, and version.
Three entry points if you're unsure:
- Try free for 12 hours without a credit card to test interface and performance.
- Start on the 100% free offer for a small, casual server.
- Use our buying guide to target the right setup for your case.
Our infrastructure covers all use cases: from a private server with friends to a heavy modpack or a busy 24/7 community server.
Can I test a Minecraft server for free before subscribing? #
Yes, MineStrator offers a free 12-hour trial without a credit card, renewable once a week, on a MyBox 12 GB or MyBox Perf 12 GB configuration of your choice. No player limit, no commitment, server delivered in under a minute.
The trial gives full access to the MineBoard interface: game panel, live console, SmartBackup, WebSFTP, included web hosting. Install plugins and modpacks like on a paid server.
Ideal to validate performance before switching to a paid offer.
Does MineStrator have a 100% free Minecraft server offer? #
Yes, MineStrator offers a 100% free Minecraft server, forever, without a credit card or trial period. The MyBox Free configuration (Xeon Gold 6230R, 4 GB DDR4 RAM, 8 GB SSD) is enough for a server with friends or a beginner project.
The server stays active as long as you use it. You get the full MineBoard interface: panel, console, backups, plugins, modpacks. Simple eligibility (1 free server per account).
What if I'm not happy with my current Minecraft host? #
Our Ragequit Hosting program offers up to 3 months free at MineStrator to compensate the remaining time at your previous host. Just send a recent payment proof and we calculate the credit to apply on your new offer.
Clear conditions: previous subscription active, minimum 1 month remaining, cap of 3 months free across all offers. The whole process is handled by our support team in 24 to 48 business hours.
How do I order from MineStrator? #
Three paths depending on your profile: either pick a MyBox offer directly from the homepage (the most popular ones), or browse the full catalog on the MyBox page to find the one that suits you, or follow the buying guide to get oriented in under 2 minutes.
Order takes under 3 minutes: offer choice, engagement cycle, payment, server delivered automatically. No manual install, the interface is ready to use.
Can I host multiple servers on a single account? #
Yes, in two ways: you can create several servers within the same MyBox (by allocating resources), and you can also have several MyBox under the same MineStrator account. No limit on the number of orders.
Each MyBox provides full access to the MineBoard interface with centralized management. To add a new MyBox, simply place a new order: it appears automatically on your account.
Pricing & payment #
What payment methods do you accept? #
MineStrator accepts 5 payment methods: credit card (via Stripe with 3D Secure), PayPal, Paysafecard, Dedipass and internal credits. Credit card and PayPal support recurring subscriptions, cancellable anytime. Paysafecard and Dedipass are one-time, non-recurring payments.
All payments are secure and PCI-DSS compliant. Refunds are possible on credit card and PayPal per our policy. Internal credits can be purchased directly or earned through various marketing campaigns (Fortune Wheel, seasonal events, easter eggs, etc.).
How much does a Minecraft server cost and what discounts apply by duration? #
MineStrator offers start at €6.99 incl. VAT per month for small configurations and scale up based on RAM, CPU, and options. The longer the engagement, the higher the discount: 0% at 1 month up to 50% at 24 months.
Breakdown per cycle: 10% (3 months), 25% (6 months), 40% (12 months), 50% (24 months). No hidden fees: prices include VAT, no setup cost, no migration cost. Discount applies automatically to the cart.
Can I cancel my subscription at any time? #
Yes, your subscription is cancellable anytime from your customer area, with no fee or justification needed. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle: you keep server access until that date.
No hidden commitment: even on a 12 or 24-month cycle, you can cancel automatic renewal from the very first minute. If you need help, open a ticket: our support handles the request within 24 business hours.
What is your refund policy? #
You can request a full refund within 24 hours of your purchase. Simply open a ticket from your customer area specifying the reason and motive. The request is systematically processed within the timeframe.
Paysafecard and Dedipass payments don't support direct refunds (provider limitation): we generate a credit note usable on any new order instead. Full details are in our terms.
How do promo codes and MineStrator credits work? #
Promo codes apply a discount on the cart price, either as a percentage or fixed amount. Conditions vary by campaign: some codes are reserved for new clients, others for active clients, some are single-use, others reusable for a defined period.
MineStrator credits are an internal currency usable on all offers. You can purchase them directly, or earn them through the Fortune Wheel, the affiliate program, partial refunds, seasonal marketing events, easter eggs, and other occasional promotions.
Performance & technology #
How do I prevent my Minecraft server from lagging or crashing under heavy load? #
MineStrator combines two in-house systems: MyLoad™ places servers on the least-used machines and keeps their load below 70%. When your server temporarily exceeds 90% of its RAM, MyLoad automatically grants a bonus of 256 MB to 4 GB based on initial offer size.
In parallel, FlexCore™ gives you free additional CPU cores during punctual spikes (map change, player gathering, startup), based on the 95th statistical percentile. You get active margins, not just commercial promises, even during the heaviest load surges.
Does a Minecraft server need a dedicated CPU to perform well? #
Yes, and it's our absolute rule: 1 server = 1 dedicated CPU core. No sharing between clients, no over-provisioning. Our FlexCore™ system additionally grants free extra cores during punctual spikes (map change, player gathering, startup), based on the 95th statistical percentile.
The hardware: EPYC 7543p DDR4 on offers ≤ 8 GB, EPYC 9354p Genoa DDR5 on 12 GB+ offers, Ryzen 9 9900x OC DDR5 on the MyBox Perf range. You see the exact CPU on each offer before purchase.
How much RAM do I need for a Minecraft server based on player count? #
Recommendation: 4 GB for 1-5 vanilla players, 8 GB for 5-15 players with plugins, 12 GB+ for 15-40 players or a medium modpack, 16 GB+ for heavy modpacks or 40+ players. All our offers include dedicated RAM never shared with another client.
This isolation guarantees a stable experience even during spikes. Unlike low-end hosts that share memory between clients, you get the full RAM you paid for, at all times.
How do you protect my Minecraft server against DDoS attacks and bots? #
Every MineStrator server gets multi-layer anti-DDoS protection on network (L3/L4) and application (L7) layers, included by default at no extra cost. We operate our own autonomous network AS199088 with upstream filtering.
Mitigation is automatic: no action from you, no visible downtime player-side even during attacks. Our infrastructure is dimensioned to absorb the volumetric attack waves common on Minecraft servers.
How often are my backups performed? #
MineStrator includes SmartBackup™ on all offers: 53 backups kept in automatic rotation, at no cost. Cadence: 1 backup per hour for 24 hours, then 4 per day for 4 days, then 2 per day for 7 days, then 1 per day for 18 days.
You can restore any backup in 1 click from the MineBoard panel. Direct download available anytime via a button on the SmartBackup page. Backups are stored on isolated infrastructure, independent of the server, to survive a hardware crash.
Where are your servers located? Are they in France? #
Yes, our servers are hosted in France and the United States, at the customer's choice. You can change location at no extra cost anytime from the panel. France covers most European players with minimal latency (10-25 ms).
MineStrator is published by OctoGency SARL, a French company registered at the RCS under SIREN 844 727 594, with its own autonomous network AS199088. Data hosted under French jurisdiction for FR servers.
Versions, mods & compatibility #
Which Minecraft versions can I host (Java, Bedrock, snapshots)? #
MineStrator supports all Minecraft Java versions since 1.7.10, plus Bedrock versions (PocketMine, Geyser, Floodgate for Java/Bedrock crossplay). Snapshots and experimental versions are available as soon as they release. You can even go back in time to host an older version.
Simple rule: as long as a version is hostable, you can install it with us. You switch version in a few clicks from the MineBoard panel. Supported distributions: Vanilla, Spigot, Paper, Purpur, Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, Velocity, BungeeCord, Waterfall.
Can I install my plugins and mods (Forge, Fabric, Paper, Spigot)? #
Yes, our automatic marketplace offers 110,000+ plugins, 50,000+ mods, 15,000+ datapacks, 37,800+ modpacks and 6,000+ worlds installable in one click from the panel. Supported modloaders: Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt, Paper, Spigot, Purpur.
You can also upload your own files from the online file manager or via SFTP. CurseForge and Modrinth modpacks are importable directly by their ID. Installation is one-click once the server is created and RAM allocated.
Does my server include web hosting and a database? #
Yes, each MineStrator offer includes 1 GB of free web hosting with a .strator.gg or .websr.gg subdomain, plus a MySQL/MariaDB database with full phpMyAdmin access. Ideal for a showcase site, community dashboard, or plugin integration.
The management interface includes an automatic CMS installer (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.) in a few clicks. Databases are accessible internally (low latency) and externally (configurable IP whitelist). PHP 8.4, Apache, automatic Let's Encrypt SSL included.
Support & server management #
My Minecraft server is lagging, what should I check first? #
Three quick checks: (1) look at the Performance section in the MineBoard panel to see if CPU or RAM are saturating, (2) lower view-distance in server.properties (10 → 6 reduces lag by ~50%), (3) test without plugins/mods to isolate the cause.
If the problem persists, open a ticket: our support analyzes logs, CPU/RAM usage, and network, generally within 24 business hours. For under-sized servers (too many players vs RAM), upgrading to a higher offer happens without downtime.
How do I change the Minecraft version of my server? #
From the MineBoard panel, go to the “Version” tab of your Minecraft server. You choose the target version (Vanilla, Paper, Forge, Fabric, etc.) and then the install mode.
Two possible modes:
- Version change: applies the new data without deleting the old. ⚠ Watch out for corruption risk if the migration between major versions is poorly prepared.
- Full reinstall: erases everything and installs the target version cleanly.
Before a major change, we recommend manually backing up your server via SmartBackup™.
How do I delete my MineStrator account? #
You can delete your account directly from your customer area, in the “My account” section. No email to send, no manual validation required: deletion is processed automatically.
Prerequisite: cancel your active subscriptions from the customer area, and download your useful data (server backups, invoices) before deletion. The operation is final and irreversible. Accounting obligations require us to keep invoices for 10 years (French Commercial Code).
How do I contact MineStrator support? #
Several channels available: ticket system (recommended for official requests with tracking), live chat, Discord server, phone and email. Support is open 7 days a week from 11 AM to 9 PM (excluding public holidays). Average response time: under one hour during business hours.
The Discord server offers semi-official support: the community can answer outside business hours, unless you choose to privatize your request. For critical outages, first check the Status page which lists ongoing incidents.
